Mr. Simon is a principal and a member of the Litigation Department. He is a graduate of Central Connecticut State College (B.A. with honors, 1979), and Benjamin Cardozo School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1983). Mr. Simon concentrates his practice in the area of commercial litigation. Mr. Simon's experience includes the representation of financial institutions in connection with lender liability claims and banking security issues, such as check and credit-card fraud claims. In addition, he represents a broad range of business clients in connection with breach of contract, business torts, employment and business organization disputes. He also represents real estate holding concerns in connection with leasing disputes. Mr. Simon's creditor rights practice includes the representation of lenders, landlords and equity holders in voluntary and involuntary Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 cases. Mr. Simon also has extensive experience in arguing appeals in commercial litigation, tort and criminal matters. He has served as a special public defender for the State of Connecticut since 1996. Mr. Simon's trial experience involves both Federal and State Courts as well as arbitration proceedings. Mr. Simon has lectured extensively on prejudgment remedies, lender liability and repossession of personal property collateral.
